Mr. Comeau is originally from Hay River, NT, and he brings over 26 years of public service experience with the Department of Justice, Government of the Northwest Territories. His extensive background includes many different key roles within the Corrections Service, such as Warden, Deputy Warden, and Adjudication and Investigations Specialist. Mr. Comeau is a recipient of the Premiers\\u2019 Award for Collaboration and the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal. \\r\\n\\r\\nAs the Sergeant-at-Arms, Mr. Comeau is responsible for the security of the Speaker, Members, staff and guests of the Legislative Assembly. One of the main duties of the Sergeant-at-Arms is the care and custody of the Mace. In the Speaker\\u2019s Parade (or Procession) that begins each day\\u2019s session, the Sergeant-at-Arms leads the Speaker, the Clerk, the Deputy Clerk, the Clerk of Committees, and two Pages into the Legislative Assembly Chamber. Dani also worked with the Indigenous Policing Unit and later shared her expertise as an instructor at the RCMP Training Academy, where she taught Police Sciences, Driving, Fitness and Defensive Tactics.  \\r\\n\\r\\nOver the course of her policing career, Dani was involved in a variety of roles. Dave retired in 2017 as an Inspector.  \\r\\n\\r\\nDave is of Metis descent and is very involved in the Spirituality of his Ojibwe background.\\r\\n\\r\\nDave is happily married to Isabel and has been with her for 33 years.  Together they have raised four children. He occupies the third-longest continuously held state office in Canada, after the Sovereign and the Governor General.\\r\\n\\r\\nA native of Prince Edward Island, Mr. Peters served as a volunteer for the St. John\\u2019s Ambulance Brigade as a youth and throughout his life. He has completed university undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Ottawa in the field of political science.  \\r\\n\\r\\nMr. Peters joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in 1981 retiring in 2013 as a Superintendent. He served in municipal and rural policing, protective duties, international policing and public affairs during his career.\\r\\n\\r\\nIn 1987, he was accepted to the RCMP Musical Ride. His love of horses led to his cherished service to Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family. These privileged encounters led to him eventually directing the RCMP relationship with the Monarchy and playing a key role in royal visits to Canada. He has organized and participated in the official presentations of RCMP horses to The Queen at Windsor Castle in 2009, 2012 and 2016. \\r\\n\\r\\nAs the RCMP Contingent Commander, Mr. Peters led the ceremonial and protocol functions for the 90th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge in 2007 ensuring an RCMP mounted escort for The Queen. He also led RCMP participation for the 65th Anniversary of the Italian Campaign in 2009. \\r\\n\\r\\nHis pinnacle accomplishment in the RCMP was as the Diamond Jubilee Contingent Commander at the Royal Windsor Horse Show tribute to The Queen in 2012, and the historic mounting of the Queen\\u2019s Life Guards by the RCMP in London on May 23, 2012. This marked the first time that the Mounties performed as The Queen\\u2019s Life Guard since the 17th century.   \\r\\n\\r\\nSince his appointment as Usher of the Black Rod, Mr. Peters has directed several ceremonies of state, including multiple Speeches from the Throne and the Installation of Canada\\u2019s 29th Governor General. In November 2014, The Queen personally bestowed the Usher of The Black Rod Chain of Office on him at Windsor Castle, after it was dedicated and blessed by the Dean at St. George\\u2019s Chapel. In November 2016, The Queen personally bestowed the newly restored Black Rod on him at Windsor Castle, after it too was dedicated and blessed by The Dean at St. George\\u2019s Chapel. This gracious gift of The Queen and historic restoration was a significant sesquicentennial project for The Senate of Canada.  \\r\\n\\r\\nMr. Peters was invested as a Member of The Royal Victorian Order by Her Majesty The Queen in 2013 and an Officer of The Order of St. John in 2020. Inspector Gignac has been a member of the S\\u00fbret\\u00e9 du Qu\\u00e9bec for 27 years and was previously Chief of Operations and Police Activities at the NAQ since October 2021.\\r\\n\\r\\nOver the course of his career, Inspector Gignac has worked in various regions of Quebec, including Outaouais, Centre-du-Qu\\u00e9bec, Portneuf and Capitale-nationale. He has a wide range of police experience, from the gendarmerie to emergency measures and criminal investigations. He returned from his duties in Afghanistan in 2011, after a one-year tour of duty, receiving commendations from both the United States military and the Canadian government in recognition of his efforts. In 2011, he also served as a Member of the Afghan National Police Policy Development Committee for NATO.\\r\\n\\r\\nIn Calgary, he volunteered as a member of the Tokijarhpabi Homeowners Association and served as its President. Ray considers community engagement and participation as an essential component to a successful police officer\\u2019s career. As such, he has also volunteered his time as a coach for Cochrane Minor Hockey.\\r\\n\\r\\nRay\\u2019s community service has been acknowledged by awards such as the Chief of Defence Staff Commendation in 1987, a Special Service Medal from NATO in 1989, the Bill Shelever Memorial Award in 1990, an Operational Service Medal from Afghanistan, a Superior Civilian Service Medal from the United States and Afghanistan, and a NATO Article 5 Medal from Afghanistan in 2011.\\r\\n\\r\\nBorn in Montreal and raised in Burnaby and Toronto, Ray spent 30 years in Calgary and is new to Vancouver Island. He has been married to his wife Carol for 31 years, and she still serves in the Canadian military as a recruiting officer in Calgary. They have three adult children, each pursuing very different passions. Ray and Carol have two dogs and a cat, the latter being a great hunter who terrorizes any mouse that ventures into the house. He retired from the RNC in February 2026.\\r\\n\\r\\nIn parallel with his policing career, Alex served for more than three decades in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, retiring in 2018 at the rank of Colonel. His military service included operational deployments to Cyprus, Croatia, and Sudan, as well as senior leadership roles within the Canadian Army Reserve, including Commanding Officer of the First Battalion, The Royal Newfoundland Regiment, and later Commander of 37 Canadian Brigade Group. He fought in the battle of Medak Pocket in Croatia, in 1993 which stopped ethnic cleansing of Muslim minorities.  He was awarded the Commander in Chief Commendation, Commander Expeditionary Forces Commendation and Canadian Forces Wound Stripe.\\r\\n\\r\\nAlex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has completed several senior professional military education programs, including studies at the Canadian Forces College and international training in New Zealand and Senegal.
